going beyond” the nation-state doesn’t mean “without the nation-state.” It means that we must seriously alter state power by introducing new operational logics and institutional players.

Not sure. Salvatore seems fairly convinced, but I don't know enough. Not necessarily a fan of state socialism either. But hey if the claim is true, then that's a good thing.

Statecraft

He distinguished “statecraft,” in which individuals have a diminished influence in political affairs because of the limits of representational government, from “politics,” in which citizens have direct, participatory control over their governments and communities.

[[The Next Revolution]]

While the state is the instrument by which an oppressive and exploitative class regulates and coercively controls the behavior of an exploited class by a ruling class, a government—or better still, a polity—is an ensemble of institutions designed to deal with the problems of consociational life in an orderly and hopefully fair manner.

STATEMENT: Google announces 10 years of tech support for Chromebooks

URL : https://pirg.org/media-center/statement-google-announces-10-years-of-tech-support-for-chromebooks/

Good news! Longer support for [[Chromebook]]s. [[Google]].

Google announced on Thursday that it would extend the automatic update “expiration date” to 10 years for all Chromebook models released since 2021.

Good for the environment as reduces the number of new devices needed. Good for schools as they don't have to pay out for new devices.

U.S. PIRG Education Fund’s Chromebook Churn report found that doubling the life of Chromebooks sold in just 2020 could cut emissions equivalent to taking 900,000 cars off the road for a year, and could result in $1.8 billion dollars in savings for schools, assuming no additional maintenance costs.
